The main objective of the Competition - organised by PTWP Group, publisher of the Health Market portal and magazine - is to select and award start-ups that create the most creative product or process innovations, with significant importance for patients and the healthcare system, and with significant cost-effectiveness of implementation. Solutions submitted to the Competition cover a wide range of medical technologies - both drug and non-drug.
An equally important task of the Start-Up-Med Competition is to promote the most interesting innovations and their authors, including the opportunity to present solutions to leaders of the medical sector in Poland during the 10th Health Challenges Congress.

In the Start-up category, dedicated to start-ups creating innovative technologies, applications can be submitted by:
- Companies conducting research and development activities
- Individuals conducting research and development activities
In the Medical/Scientific Centre Category - dedicated to entities creating technological and organisational innovations - submissions can be made by:
- Healthcare entities (within the meaning of the Act of 15 April 2011 on healthcare activity);
- Scientific entities (i.e. organisations conducting research and disseminating knowledge).
The evaluation will be based on a form with a description of the individual submissions. Submitted entries will first be reviewed by the organisers against the entry criteria.

The submitted projects will be evaluated by experts forming the Start-Up-Med Competition Jury. Five finalists with the highest number of points will be selected in each category - based on the number of points awarded.
The finalists will be invited to present themselves during the 10th Health Challenges Congress. The winners in each category will be determined by a vote of the Jury after the presentation and also by an online poll. Both votes are independent of each other.
The winners will be announced on 13 March 2025 during the 10th Health Challenges Congress.
The previous edition of the competition received 85 projects. The submitted projects were assessed by experts forming the Start-Up-Med Competition Jury, who selected the finalists based on the number of points awarded.
